In October 2019, I told Bryan Williamson at MEDEX that I needed to start my own neurosurgical practice. I had been part of a group practice for several years.

My surgical skills and neurosurgical knowledge were growing, however, I knew almost nothing about how to organize and structure my own practice. As I described what I wanted to do, I distinctly remember Bryan telling me "no problem", piece of cake. We had the practice up and running within a month, new PC, insurance enrollment and staff. Although we didn't know it at the time, it was critical to get a jumpstart since Covid shut things down just four months later. Because we were able to organize ourselves and begin operations so quickly we were ready for Covid and continue to flourish today.

We now have four surgeons and seven APPs. At a time in medicine when it is becoming increasingly difficult to be in private practice I'm grateful for MEDEX that made it possible to maintain independence and allow for excellence in patient care.
